A Facebook business page is a professional, free, and easy way for customers to find your service business, see your work, and book jobs online.

Setting up a Facebook business page is incredibly easy, even if you have zero online experience. Along with a Google My Business page, it’s the very first thing you should do when establishing your service business’ online presence.

Step 1: Create a Personal Facebook Profile

A Facebook business page is a separate page associated with your Facebook profile.

You can only build a Facebook business page if you have a personal Facebook profile. If you already have a profile, skip this step. If not, create a new account by visiting Facebook.com and following the prompts.

Step 2: Navigate to “Create” and “Page”

Once you have your profile, log in to your Facebook account. Next, move your cursor to the top-right menu. Select Create and then Page.

Step 3: Choose Your Type of Page

Facebook then lets you choose between two pages: Business or Brand, or Community or Public Figure. Select Business or Brand and click Get Started.

Step 4: Input Your Business Details

Type your page name (business name), include your page category (your industry), and add details like your street address, city, phone number, and zip code.

Don’t skip this step! Including all of this information will help lend credibility and professionalism to your business page. It will also make it more likely to appear in Google search results.

Here’s an example of how it should look. When you’re ready, select Continue:

Step 5: Add a Profile and Cover Image

Facebook now asks you to Upload a Profile Picture.

Remember: this page is a representation of your business. Rather than a photo of you, you should use this space to upload your company logo.

If you don’t have a logo yet, include a clear photo of your work, truck, or even employees.

Next, Upload a Cover Photo, which is the background image of your Facebook business page.

The cover photo is one of the very first things customers and prospects will see when they land on your Facebook page.

You’ll want to add a professional-looking photo that represents your business accurately. For example, if you run a carpet cleaning business, you can include a before and after photo of a successful job. Or, if you operate a landscaping business, you may want to add a picture of a happy client standing in their garden.

Regardless of what images you choose, just make sure they’re the right size to capture all the details. This means 180 x180 pixels for your profile picture and 820 x 312 pixels for your cover photo.

Tip: To get perfectly-sized Facebook photos every time, use a DIY design platform like Canva. Canva uses a drag and drop design format and provides templates you can use to start all your designs. These include social media templates like Facebook covers, ads, and posts.

Step 6: Spread the Word by Inviting Friends

After adding your photos, Facebook will ask you if you want to invite your friends to like your page.

Many of your friends won’t be customers, but inviting them gets you more likes, boosts your visibility on Facebook, and improves engagement. As Facebook says, “Pages with 10 or more likes get more engagement.”

Add as many friends as you’d like to start spreading the word, and encourage them to share your page with their friends, too.

You can also opt to skip this step and invite friends later on by selecting the three dots on the right of the Share button below your cover photo and clicking Invite Friends.

Step 7: Update Your About Section

Add extra details to your Facebook page, such as your website address, email address, and operating hours. To get started, select About in the left menu.

Again, add as much to this section as possible. By completing all the details in your About section, you make it easier for prospects to contact you, learn about you, and find your page on Facebook.

Step 8: Include an Online Booking CTA to Collect Leads

The final, and arguably the most important step in making a Facebook business page is to add a CTA button to collect leads.

59% of consumers prefer to schedule home service appointments via email, an online platform, or a mobile app. With a strong Facebook CTA, you can give them that option.

The easier you make it for potential buyers to book new work, the more likely they’ll book with you instead of a competitor.

To add an option for clients to book jobs online directly from your Facebook page, click on Add Button, which is below your cover photo to the right.

Facebook now lets you choose from several CTA buttons. For a home service business, we recommend choosing Book with You.

After clicking Next, you need to decide where you want to send people when they click the CTA button. You can choose from Appointments on Facebook, Connect Another Tool, or Link to Website.

Let’s assume you choose Link to Website. All you have to do now is to paste the URL of the website page where customers can make bookings and hit Save

This only works if you have a great service business website that is optimized to collect leads and book jobs. Remember: your goal is to win more customers, and to do that, you need to make it as easy as possible for them to get work on your schedule.

To send customers to this form from your Facebook business page, follow these steps:

First, log in to your Jobber account and select Settings in the top right corner.

Second, select Requests in the left menu.

Third, scroll down and click View Link Options.

Fourth, copy the URL under Add a Button to Facebook.

Fifth, go back to your Facebook business page, select the CTA button, click Link to Website, and paste the URL you copied from Jobber.

Finally, hit Save and choose Finish.

You can test that the URL works by right-clicking on the CTA button and selecting Test Button.
